I received an email this weekend from a prospective Vancouver boot camp client who’s specific request was:
I really want to be crying “uncle” after each of your classes.
He told me he watched a few videos of boot camp programs being offered by other companies, and it didn’t seem like the intensity is very high in those classes (it isn’t). What follows is part of my response that I sent to him via email:
My exercise programs are completely different than every other boot camp program being offered in Vancouver. Technically my workouts aren’t even a boot camp program (by the traditional definition of a fitness boot camp). My workouts are group personal training being marketed as a boot camp because “boot camp” is the big thing people are searching for these days.
Traditional boot camps are run in a “follow-the-leader” format, where everyone lines up with their light weights and exercise mats, and the instructor leads them through an aerobics workout. My workouts are maximum intensity circuit training that has absolutely nothing to do with aerobics, or anything that those traditional boot camps do, other than being outdoors. What we do during my boot camp workouts is very much the same as what I do when training clients one-on-one.
I can tell you with confidence that you likely will be crying “uncle” after each of my Vancouver boot camp workouts. That’s not to say that I will try to push you too far; I absolutely will never try pushing any of my clients past the intensity they are capable of exercising at. But I will get the very best out of you each workout.
